  Northern Hawk Owl

Since 2006, Glacier National Park Fund has supported a research project to document nesting habits of rare Northern Hawk Owls. So far, 13 nests have been located and 50 birds banded to help answer fundamental questions about this rarely seen boreal species. These 13 nests represent a significant portion (approximately 35%) of all Northern Hawk Owl nests documented in the coterminous United States. This research also provides critical information about the ecological conditions necessary to sustain Northern Hawk Owl populations.
